Some Germans I met say that ‘Berlin is not a real Germany‘. They describe their capital as artistic, rebellious and contrasting. Perhaps, people in many other countries feel the same way about their capitals. Apparently, there is a contrast between city lifestyles and country lifestyles/between different cities in general.
Personally, I found Berlin very lively and amiable, even though I spent there 2 days only. I recommend to visit this city and see for yourself why some Germans have mixed feelings about their capital.
I would like to share some pictures I took in Berlin in 2010:
Der Deutsche Bundestag
Das Brandenburger Tor (It was impossible to take a picture of the Gate without any people in the foreground)
The urban look of Berlin:
The Bear is the symbol of Berlin:
You can see Buddy Bears and other statues of bears all over the city
Der Berliner Fernsehturm (368,03 m). It can be seen from many places in Berlin.
Der Checkpoint Charlie
Former Die Berliner Mauer (on the map)
A bit more of Berlin:
